Norvals Pont may be a small scrap of a place but we can at least boast to have the longest bar in the Northern Cape and probably in the Eastern one too!
At 30 metres our historic bar is a unique oasis in the Karoo (the Thirst) and we serve pretty much what you would expect: A wide range of ice cold beers, great Cape estate wines, South African Brandies as well an excellent stock of favourite whiskey, whiskies (we learned from the Scots you know!) and other delectable spirits to complete your total refreshment in true Bo Karoo style.
The entire bar is bathed in its long 150 year history and we have taken a lot of trouble to keep the story of our village and the nearby Gariep Dam prominent in both feel and atmosphere. Our famous bar still features its original spittoon. Now how about that?
We hope you like it the way old President Steyn did after falling off the pont and who was carried to the Pont Hotel for a few reviving Cape Brandies!
Even though here is a TV in our bar, we hope you will be surprised just how much the lost art of conversation is rediscovered by all and sundry in this, what we believe to be, the most convivial of atmospheres!
